The will to set up the Hering Museum is not at all recent. As early as in the year of the company´s 100th anniversary, it was expressed in a letter left by its president INGO HERING. In his words “Cia Hering would feel particularly happy if we could reconstruct together the memory of the company, gathering the greatest wealth of documents, objects and machines.” (Ingo Hering, 1980).
Telling history is by no means an easy task, as the result is always the interpretation we make today about the past of what stayed imprinted in our memory. On the other hand, there is the commitment to share and contribute with information and mainly with inspiration so that future generations may recover and strengthen their bonds with a brand that stands for more than just a company name or the family surname but is synonymous nowadays to apparel with a concept, design and value added.
The exhibition that officially opens the museum was named TIME TO TIME and aims at informing on the historic milestones of Cia Hering, reflecting on entrepeneurship, cherishing the industrial heritage of Blumenau and thinking about fashion as cultural and social expression.
The museum proposes itself to be a multiuse space, interactive, creative and critical, modern and updated, associating the preservation of historic references with the innovation concept of the two little fish brand. A place where visitation gives place to observation, experimentation, knowledge and questioning about aspects of history, entrepeneurship, creativity and others permeating the Cia Hering chronology.
