About Cia. Hering

The largest Brazilian apparel franchise commemorates 130 years of a history it takes great pride in, being recognized by over 90% of Brazilians in all social classes.

Trikotwaren Fabrik Gebruder Hering. It was with this long and difficult name that Cia. Hering began weaving its history. The year was 1880. Production was housed in a commercial establishment in the city center of Blumenau (SC). Since then, centuries have changed twice. The small weaving mill has followed the changes. It has grown. It has modernized itself. And has become a renowned Brazilian apparel design company.

The first years were quite heroic. It all started in Hartha, Germany. Hermann Hering, member of a weavers´ family, decided it was time for change, as he wanted to offer his family better living conditions. He left his wife Minna and children behind to the care of his brother Bruno and crossed the Atlantic heading for Brazil. Hermann had everything planned. Heedful of new opportunities, he had gathered information on the new German settlement founded in 1850 by Dr. Hermann Otto von Blumenau in the south of the country.

As early as 1880, Hermann managed to make his first investment. He purchased a circular loom  and a box of thread. He now needed to find a way to make his new undertaking work. Thus, he wrote his wife Minna a letter and asked her to send over to Brazil their older kids, Paul and Elise along with his Brother Bruno.

The Herings faced the tough conditions, the difficulties to purchase raw materials and all other kinds of natural hardships of a new undertaking which, at that time, were extremely complex. 

With their perseverance, dedication  and quality of the products obtained already in the early years of the business, the brothers Hermann and Bruno Hering contributed to writing one of the most beautiful and important pages of the Brazilian economic development history .

The two little fish brand


The word Hering means  “herring” in German. It is a kind of fish similar to the sardine. The two fish represent the brothers Hermann and Bruno Hering.
